Villarreal crushed near neighbours Valencia to keep up their challenge for a place in next season's Champions League.Goalsfrom Robert Pires, Nihat Kahveci and Joan Capdevila gave the home teaman easy win over a Valencia side that looks to be in freefall.

Back at the other end, Nihat again called Hildebrand into action and the Valencia keeper responded well.
Neverthelessit should have been 2-0 at half-time after Nihat spurned an open goal,hitting the post after being set up by Rossi.
With just one goalto claw back Valencia may have felt they were still in with a chance,but in an untidy opening 20 minutes of the second half they seldomthreatened.

All there was left was forNihat to score the goal he so richly deserved with 20 minutes remainingand he did it in fine style with a subtle chip over the Valencia keeperafter unselfish work from Rossi.
