[/size][size=2][b]Cagni led Empoli into European football last season, but has endured a difficult campaign to date.
Sunday's 0-0 draw at home to Torino left Empoli in 18th position in the table after just two wins from 13 league games. [/b]
Club president Fabrizio Corsi originally put his faith in Cagni, but has now performed a U-turn by dismissing the coach.
"I do not understand how one can say that the team doesn't respond to me when against Torino they played a great second half," Cagni told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Now I could say a lot, but I prefer to accept the decision."
