簡拿華路:魯爾真係好掂
[size=2]Cannavaro: Raul Is MagnificentFabio Cannavaro told Spanish sports daily As of his admiration for Raul, and his respect for coach Bernd Schuster's way of doing things...
zoom - galleria Fabio Cannavaro feels that Raul's never-say-die attitude is emblematic of Real Madrid, and that the veteran captain deserves more respect.
The Italian defender told Spanish sports daily As, "He's magnificent.
"What's happening with Raul now is the same as what's going in with [Alessandro] Del Piero at Juventus. People get involved and say he has to retire, then he responds with goals. That's what's happening with Raul.
"And our captain is a symbol, an emblem of Real Madrid."
Raul may have remained constant, but the Bernabeu side have seen many other changes in recent months, not least the departure of coach Fabio Capello, to be replaced by Bernd Schuster.
Some felt that Cannavaro may have lost out in the transition, but the World Cup winner insists that he's delighted to work under Schuster.
"I feel very good with him," he insisted.
"At the start of the season, everyone said that I was Capello's man, that I would react differently to the changes.
"But in truth, I've not always played under Capello. I played more than 500 matches with the likes of Napoli, the Italian national team and the top flight... and spent just three years with Capello.
"We won three leagues together, but now I'm with Schuster and I love how he works, and I like the relationship that he has with us.
"We're not playing well at the moment but the most important thing is that we have confidence and are keen.
"The club's kept confidence in me and I appreciate it. Now I have to repay the trust that's been put in me since the start. We have to do our job, and I'm happy to be with Madrid and be able to do so.
"It's true that the football style is different, but we've signed quality. The main difference is that we've played with one central midfield instead of just two, but we retain the same mentality: keep winning, stay together, and work well during the week."
Cannavaro's eager to succeed both at a domestic and European level, and feels that, on the home front, the Merengues have the advantage over their fierce rivals, FC Barcelona.
"Last year there was more pressure on us, and now it's coming for them," he said.
"The problems have moved there; we're calmer and more detached."
Real Madrid and Cannavaro - recovered from injury - face Valencia on Wednesday.
